Home Made Lip Balm

Okay, so I recently had two of my little cousins come for a sleepover recently and as anyone with kids or younger family will know they need entertaining 24/7

So when they arrived I had set up a little area to make lip balm/lip gloss. I had seen things like this over the years on Pinterest, blogs and magazines so I thought it would be fun to I've it a go!

Ingredients:

Vaseline
Flavour Aid/Kool Aid (or similar powdered drink) (you will find it online or in the around the world food isle at your supermarket!)
Water
Tubs (to put it in when done)

I also bought a strawberry jelly crystals to give that a try if the Flavour Aid didn't work!

Method:

Microwave Vaseline until runny, then store in hot water (supervise kids)
Mix Flavour Aid/Kool Aid with water (think of this like icing sugar, less is more)
Spoon melted Vaseline into the single tubs
Add a few spoons of Flavour Aid paste and mix

Once it's in the pots pop it in the fridge for a little while so the Vaseline solids up!

Then it's ready! Give it to your girls to pop on their lips to give them a try! I used the cherry Flavour Aid and it tastes delicious on your lips!! And even gives them a bit of colour! 💋

The girls really enjoyed making it anyway! I finished the night making jelly and angel delight with them and then we did storm painting! Safe to say I had won them out by the end of the day!

Jumpsuit!!

Happy Monday Lovelies!!

So I had a cocktail party on Saturday and had nothing new to wear, I had some fabric that I had bought about 3 months ago from Leon's in Chorlton and never got round to making anything with it! I also had a pattern so I thought why not? I've never made a jumpsuit before! The pattern was McCall's 6969 Misses Jumpsuit & Romper Sewing Pattern.

I laid the pattern out and got snipping! The instructions were fairly easy to read, I already have knowledge of pattern cutting so I did kind I ignore some of them! A couple of hours work and I had finally finished! I'm so happy with the final look below!! I styled it with a light pink jacket and nude shoes.

What do you think guys??

Have a great Monday! Peace & Love xx

Holiday Essentials List..

Okay so I don't actually have a holiday planned this summer...boo I know!! I have just finished my placement year so I would love nothing more than to get away for a few days but I want to go to China in November so it’s a bit of a no go, saving up for that instead…looks like I have to find myself a new part time job ASAP!! It will be so worth it though!

However I can dream about packing up a suitcase and jetting off to a sunny island in the middle of nowhere so I'm going to do exactly that and share with you the items I cannot live without when I do! I've thrown it together into bullet points to make an easy checklist for you!

Airport/Plane…
  • Passport/Insurance Docs/Tickets/Money {obviously right?!}
  • Travel pillow, especially if you’re on a night flight! I love the squishy ones found here
  • Comfy socks for if you kick your shoes off and get cold feet with the air con
  • Lip balm is 100% essential for me, I’m addicted to Carmex and with the bad air quality and air conditioning I can’t stand dry lips.
  • Moisturisers (under 100ml) good for hands and your face when you start to get tired and groggy getting near the other end
  • Get sickness? Don’t forget your tablets!!
  • A good book or trashy magazine to curb the boredom
  • A light change of clothes, just in case that suitcase goes walkies

For the Room…
  • Travel adapter
  • Extension lead - My other half brightened the world of travel last year when he pulled out an extension lead when we arrived in Spain, I couldn’t believe I had never thought of this before no messing around arguing about who needed it for what and when, just one adapter and loads of spaces, hair dryer, phone charging and speaker playing all at once!! Just brill!
  • Phone Charger
  • Hair dryer & Straighteners
  • Hairbrush  & Comb

For the Bathroom…
  • Face wash
  • Shower gel
  • Shampoo & conditioner
  • Moisturiser
  • Toothbrush & toothpaste
  • Razor & shaving gel
  • Deodorant
  • Sun cream & After sun
  • Pain killers/First aid kit/Diarrhoea tablets {in case you eat something dodge!!}
  • Insect replant/ Bite Cream
  • Tweezers- make sure these are in the case and not hand luggage
  • Makeup remover
  • All your makeup, never know what you may end up getting up to {I tend to go natural on holiday because I sweat my face off!! Bit of bronzer to even out the face and maybe a dash of mascara…}
  • Cotton buds
  • Nail varnish

Clothes…
  • Underwear- all ways pack extra in case of accident/delay
  • Couple of day dresses & night dresses
  • A few shorts/skirts
  • Maxi’s
  • Tops
  • Pair of flats, wedges and heels
  • Jewellery
  • Cardie – in case it gets chilly
  • Bikinis!!

For the beach…
  • Big beach bag – you will have to take all your stuff down to the beach or pool and if you’re a way from the hotel you don’t want to be going back every 5 minutes
  • Towel – some hotels don’t let you take theirs, plus you can get one brightly coloured or with a picture on!!
  • A bikini/swimsuit if you’ve not already got it on!!
  • Cover-up - I like to throw on a sarong or kimono when I go and grab lunch
  • Sun cream – if you’ve not already applied before you left the room
  • Shades
  • Bobble at the ready for your beach hair
  • Boom box for when your chilling
  • Water, don’t want to dehydrate yourself

Going Out…
  • Clutch or small bag
  • CONDOMS – I don’t want to sound like your mother but ‘it’s better to be safe than sorry’ ‘don’t be a fool, wrap your tool’ ‘if you’re not going to sack it, go home and whack it’ I could go on with these because I find them hilarious but I won’t!! Seriously though, it’s not embarrassing if you want to be safe; it’s more embarrassing if you get an STI/STD!!
  • Camera, don’t forget the charger, or you will miss the hilarious moments
  • Plasters for those silly heels you packed earlier and will wear once and then stick to flats
  • More hair bobbles, its hot out there guys don’t get sweaty stuck to your forehead hair, it’s not attractive, I know, I always carry a bobble!!

So if you’re going away, well lucky you!! Enjoy, stay safe and have fun…

Happy Holidays! Peace & Love xx

Tanklets!!

Okay so I wanted a new ankle bracelet and couldn't really find one that I really wanted, I wanted something a bit different to a normal ankle bracelet. I remembered these gloves I used to wear when I was a carnival princess and they had a loop that went around my wrist and middle finger and it just looked so pretty, I thought why not have it for my toe!

I ordered myself some supplies and made these, I’ve given them the name Tanklet as a little play on toe and ankle. Each one is different and the charms are picked separately for each bracelet, they take me around an hour per bracelet to make!! I made as many as I could with the supplies I had whilst I worked my current job and moved house and kept up with my busy social life lol so they are now on sale at
https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MyVixenFashion

I’ve popped a few images below of some of them, so if you like what you see go on over and treat yourself they are only £7.50 with free P&P and they are great for holidays, jazzing up flip flops and dolly’s or just your bare foot ;) I already have a few happy customers that I released the Tanklets to them early so come and join them!

Follow this link to get £5 off your first Etsy purchase, that makes these Tanklets only £2.50!!! You know you want to take a nosey ;)  http://etsy.me/1uW50UW

Enjoy the coming summer… Peace and Love xx

And this image is a little montage someone sent me after I had given them one, I always love a happy customer so if you purchase one please let me know what you think!!! :) x

Father's Day Gift Ideas!

It’s been a while…

I have been moving house recently and it has just been so ridiculously hectic I have had absolutely no time to blog whatsoever!! But hey everyone can have a break right?!

Well I thought I’d come back with a post that would be helpful, Father’s Day Gift ideas for Sunday 15th June. My Dad is actually helpful when it comes to Father’s Day, he has the same gift every year, a FED card for fishing so it’s easy to get and he’s always happy. But what can you get for yours??

I started with https://www.etsy.com/  I quite like all the little personal items on here; I’m very sentimental so this site is perfect for my needs! The layout is pretty easy and you can choose sections to look through like if your dads into gardening, cooking, sport, travel, etc. My favourite items on here are shown below, but there are so many different and unique things it’s definitely worth a look for any occasion.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

The next site I hit was http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/ I find this site hit and miss sometimes but there are quite a few good ideas for Father’s Day on here. I absolutely love the coded wine lock, if you’re anything like me pinching dads alcohol stash I’m sure your dad will appreciate this one! I also like the little silver tokens for TV time, silence and breakfast in bed, I thought they were quite cute!

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

And finally I had a nosey at http://www.moonpig.com/ , I had seen the advert on TV loads so I thought I’d check out what they had on offer. I was actually quite impressed, plus you get a free card with some of the presents. My favourite item is the gift box brew your own beer, my dad would love something like this!!

Hope this helps your shopping struggles!!

I'M BACK!!!

So guys I know it has been a while since my last blog post but tbh Aprils challenge kind of wiped me out a bit!! Plus I’ve had a week’s holiday from work so I have been catching up with old friends and family over the odd glass of wine or two, or three, maybe four! I have also been busy making jewellery but more on this will come in the next few weeks!

So something that kept me busy whilst I have been away from the computer is a party I attended last week…it was my aunties 40th birthday and she had a zombie themed party. It was awesome!! I decided I wanted to go as a zombie Rapunzel from Tangled.

I had a dress in my wardrobe from when I was a bridesmaid a few years ago and I couldn't get in it anymore, so I took to a pair of scissors and hacked away. I cut the front bodice open down the centre and shortened it to just below the knee. The material I had taken off the bottom I used some of to put behind the bust so my chest wasn't all out! I then created holes using a little zigzag stitch on my machine and threaded the ribbon through. I had a bag of lace netting lying around that my Nan had given me so I used this to trim the bottom hem and the bottom of the bodice. I used what I had left of the bottom trim offs to make wide strap sleeves which I then added the floaty sleeves too which I had also made from the lace trimmings.

Before at the wedding...

After I'd altered it and make-up...

So what do you guys think??

Don't think I did too bad for a couple of hours and a bit of DIY!

The wig is from eBay so if anyone’s looking to do a Rapunzel look it was a bargain at £11.49 , I then glitzed it up with some flower clips that I got from the local £1 shop!

My friend Lauriel did our makeup and we all loved it, absolutely amazing!! Find her on Instagram and get your Halloween bookings in early, as you can imagine from the makeup she will be in high demand!!

Here's a few more snaps from the party...

Hopeyou've not missed me too much guyss ;)

Have a great weekend!! Time for a glass of wine for me and my bestie! Peace and Love xx

DIY V Day

Okay so I've always been one of the haters of Valentine’s Day but as I feel society forces it upon you I do feel the need to partake in the giving of gifts. I haven’t always been this way because as a child I used to hand make my ‘daddy’ cards and gifts and he in turn would always get me a card and a small gift. But as you get older and you get a replacement for ‘daddy’ in my case, you learn the value of money when you have to buy a £2.50 card from Clinton's and add that to a box of £10 Thornton’s chocolates and a £10 me to you teddy and the endless list that can continue, it gets a tad expensive and in my opinion unnecessary. You are supposed to show your love not how much money you've got.

So, this year I have opted for the ‘homemade’ gifts of the past, with a small sentimental bought gift. Below shows my homemade gifts, the first one shows a salt dough tile which I made when two of my young cousins came for a sleepover. I used a square of salt dough (made with two parts flour and one part salt) flattened it out and used a stamp (usually used to print the message into toast) and then microwaved it to harden it. This can also be done in the oven, just keep your eye on it when in the microwave as it can set on fire

The second gift was one I came across for like a DIY kit for a friend or colleague for like a jokey hangover kit. This one I have put together though is a bit more ‘soppy’. I have given it the title ‘’A Little Bag of All the Things We Need’’ I think this would also be a nice personal touch for things like a wedding gift adding items such as; ‘A Penny, so you will never be poor. A horse shoe, to always bring you luck.’ Etc. Mine contains all the items shown on the card in the image, these can be switched and changed for all your own personal jokes or sentiments I used things that I found around the house and things that made me laugh, (the screw in particular) Hope this helps for any struggling ideas you may have had! X
