Birthday Weekend!!

Hey Guys!!

I have just about recovered from a few days of partying and celebrating so I thought I’d give a quick update of what I've been up to!!

Saturday:

I started my day in the nail shop, it was mega busy due to it being the start of the summer holidays over here so I was in the shop for agessss but it was so worth it, I love my new nails! I had infill’s and then got her to round the edges, I picked a pinkie-nude shade of polish and the thin black and gold polish for detail, finally dug the gems out and then she got started on decorating.

Next I popped in to my cousins salon to get my hair pinned up, it was so warm over the weekend there was no way I was going out with my hair down!! We had tried this style before and I was running out of time so she got it done quite quickly!!

I had found my dress on Boohoo it was only £8!! Here are a few selfie pics from the night. We started the night with a BBQ and drinks at my house and then went into Manchester and partied till the very early hours in the Printworks.

Sunday:

I'm not going to lie, there are no pictures from today of me pure and simply because I was not fit to be seen by humans at all!! I did go to my Uncles house with my friends and family as he was making an EPIC Sunday roast for us!! We did however miss most of the party as we crashed out on the sofa like slobs for the best part of the day!! My fabulous aunty also made me a Minion cake which was amazingggg as I LOVE Despicable ME!!

Monday:

This was my actual birthday and it was also my mum’s graduation, she graduated with a first MSC in Mathematics. To start I had a birthday lunch where some family came round and I got to open my presents!

My niece stole my new Minion t-shirt!!

For the graduation I sat with my cousin outside whilst I waited for my other half and my aunty and uncle so the pictures I got aren't the best of quality as they are taken from the big screen, but it was still nice to get to see her graduate (again).

We couldn't resist a couple of selfies whilst we were waiting! Plus I had bought myself a new summer hat from M&S!!

We then went to the Alchemist for a couple of cocktails and then went to Nando’s in Spinningfields for something to eat! All in all I had a great few days.

A Taste Of The Caribbean...

So I've had a fab weekend! I went to the casino with my best friend on Friday night for a few cheeky G&T’s, we won a bit of cash and sat on an outside terrace catching up. We then got to watch the amazing lightning storm that happened over here as well, unfortunately I didn't get any snaps of it as my phone had died by this point in the night!

I had a fairly quiet Saturday; we spent the first part of the day recovering from our gins, then we got ready and headed out for some food, just popped into Nando’s (can’t resist a medium chicken pitta when I'm hung-over!!) ;) Watched a film, (the final saw) wouldn't recommend it, bit of a silly predictable story!! And then I caught an early night.

Sunday was amazing, I remembered that the Manchester Caribbean carnival was on and I had been craving curry goat, rice and peas for weeks now!! I wasn't up and ready early enough to get down to watch the parade which was a tad gutting but I will push myself to make it down early next year!! I love the vibe of this carnival as it’s a massive community feel, all the locals head down. The music can be heard quite a way away, Caribbean vibes, dancehall, and pure bass vibrating through the ground. I followed the smell, it draws you in, I don’t think you could walk past the park without having a nosey as to what was going on it smells so good! It was a fab day with loads to do for adults and kids, if you haven’t been before you must save the date for next year!!!!!

To keep your self up to date with their next carnival like them on Facebook!

Check out my pics of the day below!

Also found a video on YouTube of the carnival, watch it HERE

Peace and Love xx

I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts...There they are all standing in a row...Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head...Give the a twist, a flick of the wrist...Thats what the showman said!

First on the agenda...a coconut!! So fun watching him hack it open with his machete!

Rum Punch, also a winner!

Then time for food! We picked a nice busy BBQ spot that smelt delicious...

I had my favourite, Curry Goat, Rice & Peas...Tastiest dish ever!!! Finished the lot...

Family tucking in...

Other snaps from the day...a DJ in a crazy wig but playing some awesome bouncy tunes whilst we sat on the grass... and one of the many stalls selling clothing and jewellery!

Holiday Essentials List..

Okay so I don't actually have a holiday planned this summer...boo I know!! I have just finished my placement year so I would love nothing more than to get away for a few days but I want to go to China in November so it’s a bit of a no go, saving up for that instead…looks like I have to find myself a new part time job ASAP!! It will be so worth it though!

However I can dream about packing up a suitcase and jetting off to a sunny island in the middle of nowhere so I'm going to do exactly that and share with you the items I cannot live without when I do! I've thrown it together into bullet points to make an easy checklist for you!

Airport/Plane…
  • Passport/Insurance Docs/Tickets/Money {obviously right?!}
  • Travel pillow, especially if you’re on a night flight! I love the squishy ones found here
  • Comfy socks for if you kick your shoes off and get cold feet with the air con
  • Lip balm is 100% essential for me, I’m addicted to Carmex and with the bad air quality and air conditioning I can’t stand dry lips.
  • Moisturisers (under 100ml) good for hands and your face when you start to get tired and groggy getting near the other end
  • Get sickness? Don’t forget your tablets!!
  • A good book or trashy magazine to curb the boredom
  • A light change of clothes, just in case that suitcase goes walkies

For the Room…
  • Travel adapter
  • Extension lead - My other half brightened the world of travel last year when he pulled out an extension lead when we arrived in Spain, I couldn’t believe I had never thought of this before no messing around arguing about who needed it for what and when, just one adapter and loads of spaces, hair dryer, phone charging and speaker playing all at once!! Just brill!
  • Phone Charger
  • Hair dryer & Straighteners
  • Hairbrush  & Comb

For the Bathroom…
  • Face wash
  • Shower gel
  • Shampoo & conditioner
  • Moisturiser
  • Toothbrush & toothpaste
  • Razor & shaving gel
  • Deodorant
  • Sun cream & After sun
  • Pain killers/First aid kit/Diarrhoea tablets {in case you eat something dodge!!}
  • Insect replant/ Bite Cream
  • Tweezers- make sure these are in the case and not hand luggage
  • Makeup remover
  • All your makeup, never know what you may end up getting up to {I tend to go natural on holiday because I sweat my face off!! Bit of bronzer to even out the face and maybe a dash of mascara…}
  • Cotton buds
  • Nail varnish

Clothes…
  • Underwear- all ways pack extra in case of accident/delay
  • Couple of day dresses & night dresses
  • A few shorts/skirts
  • Maxi’s
  • Tops
  • Pair of flats, wedges and heels
  • Jewellery
  • Cardie – in case it gets chilly
  • Bikinis!!

For the beach…
  • Big beach bag – you will have to take all your stuff down to the beach or pool and if you’re a way from the hotel you don’t want to be going back every 5 minutes
  • Towel – some hotels don’t let you take theirs, plus you can get one brightly coloured or with a picture on!!
  • A bikini/swimsuit if you’ve not already got it on!!
  • Cover-up - I like to throw on a sarong or kimono when I go and grab lunch
  • Sun cream – if you’ve not already applied before you left the room
  • Shades
  • Bobble at the ready for your beach hair
  • Boom box for when your chilling
  • Water, don’t want to dehydrate yourself

Going Out…
  • Clutch or small bag
  • CONDOMS – I don’t want to sound like your mother but ‘it’s better to be safe than sorry’ ‘don’t be a fool, wrap your tool’ ‘if you’re not going to sack it, go home and whack it’ I could go on with these because I find them hilarious but I won’t!! Seriously though, it’s not embarrassing if you want to be safe; it’s more embarrassing if you get an STI/STD!!
  • Camera, don’t forget the charger, or you will miss the hilarious moments
  • Plasters for those silly heels you packed earlier and will wear once and then stick to flats
  • More hair bobbles, its hot out there guys don’t get sweaty stuck to your forehead hair, it’s not attractive, I know, I always carry a bobble!!

So if you’re going away, well lucky you!! Enjoy, stay safe and have fun…

Happy Holidays! Peace & Love xx

Nipples!!

Okay so I came across these bikinis when I was doing some research into social movements to do with feminism for University. I think trying to get complete equality of men and women is great, but I’m not a massive follower of it, and not exactly going to stand and join the rallies with a picket, but each to their own. I like to think I make a difference by standing up for us gals whenever someone tries to put us down! I am such a bold, strong personality, I work in an office with 10 guys, and I’d love to see one of them dare to say anything against women, lol, to be fair they are all really nice and I don’t think they ever would!  Anyway I’m drifting away from the point of the post…

So these bikini tops…What do you think? Shocking…Too Daring…Fabulous?!

I tend to only get the chance to wear a bikini when I'm on holiday; the weather isn't particularly great in the UK so holiday is when I get to flaunt what I’ve got!! Personally I despise getting tan lines, and I sunbathe topless, much to my friend’s embarrassment when we go on a girl’s holiday (well if they don't like it, they don't have to look!!) My family have never bothered about it, and my other half sure as hell didn't have a bad word to say when we went away ;) I would love to holiday near a nudist beach, it is definitely on my bucket list to go completely nude sunbathing!!

I personally love the idea of these bikinis for those that don’t want to brave it bare. It’s such a bold statement to make; I can understand why they came up with the design! Why should nipples be so obscene to get out, men have theirs out no problem as soon as it warms up! There really shouldn't be an issue with women’s nipples, I love the feeling of wearing no bra, I shouldn't have to worry what people are going to think if it gets a tad chilly and the girls want to say hello! ;)

So let’s hear your opinion….Yay or Nay??? Take the survey at the top of the page!

I love them!!

Cream!!

So I decided I’d take care of my skin a bit better, my body is always really soft to the touch as I moisturise this regularly but I always leave out my face! But my body stuff is great so I’ll share my silky soft secrets…

Soften the body…

Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Body Gel Oil has got to be my No1 go-to body moisturiser; well it’s actually oil but its brill, especially after you have shaved those stubbly legs!! It can be a bit of a mare as it tends to get everywhere and it’s not best to get it on anything light or dark in colour or easy to stain! Lol but I find it’s great to apply and then throw on a pair of skinny’s as it gives your jeans a bit of a shimmer and it’s like a moisture sock and keeps your skin getting softer and softer through the day!

My new summer go-to is Garnier Body, Summer Body. I love the smell of this lotion as it just reminds me of holiday! I’ve even had a few people who have had a whiff of me after applying it that have said I smell like holiday so if you’re having holiday blues or getting ready to go on one, this is what you need. It’s also a tinted moisturiser so get your tan on!!! I used the light tan for about a month and I found that if you didn’t keep up with applying around every other day the tan faded, especially on my legs! (But I think this may be my pale milk bottles in protest of being brown!) It did give a really good coverage though and a great even colour! I’ve just bought the darker hint today so I shall take a before shot and upload a piccy of an after shot in about a week’s time!!

Up to the face…

I love simple skincare, my skin is quite dry and very very sensitive so I have to be careful not to use certain products because they either mess my skin up, give me loads of spots or worse I get a rash!! The simple creams I bought are a day cream and a night cream, I’m normally not the type of person to care for my face, I generally just take my makeup off and then pass out my life is so hectic! The night cream is really good; it’s quite thick but gives a nice coverage, stays slightly sticky whilst it soaks into the skin but once dry its fine! The day cream is glossy and silky, really nice to the touch and you don’t actually need that much to cover your face. When I’m in a serious rush I chuck the cream and my foundation together and it mixes well!

Now the hands…

I had to buy a new hand cream as my boyfriend borrowed my old one and just complained about how clammy it made his hands! Yes it wasn’t the best but it cost me £1 from the Skin System tm brand from Asda when I didn’t have time to look around for a decent one on my lunch! So now I have a Garnier Hand SOS-Repair, I love Shea butter and it smells really nice, soaks into the skin well and does NOT leave clammy hands behind!! Lol

Keep Soft This Summer!! xx
